Prenatal and Postnatal Massage - Massage by the Bay (massagebythebay.com)

Are you pregnant or a new mother? Get a massage that is specifically designed for your changing needs. You need a massage from someone who is familiar with the aches and pains of pregnancy and the changing body of a new mother.  As a mother of two, I greatly benefitted from receiving massage during all trimesters and after each birth.

Baby yourself. Take the time to take care of you.

What is Prenatal Massage?

During pregnancy, a woman’s body goes through many obvious and not so obvious changes. Massage can be beneficial at every stage of pregnancy.

In early pregnancy, massage can help to ease the adjustment to your rapidly changing body. As you progress, massage can help you feel comfortable in your body and feel really connected to your baby.

Once you can no longer comfortably lay on you belly, the massage is done in a side-lying position supported by pillows that are adjusted to your comfort. Prenatal massage can help relieve pain in the low back, hips, and legs; reduce swelling; boost circulation; and aid sleep.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy or have concerns about receiving massage, it is always best to speak with your health care provider before receiving massage.

How is Postnatal Massage different from any other massage?

In the weeks and months after giving birth, your body has a lot of work to do to return to its pre-pregnant state, to feed and care for your baby, and to keep you well.

A new mother has specific needs. You may have sore muscles from nursing in odd positions and lifting an ever heavier baby. You might need help to be comfortable just lying on the massage table taking into consideration sore or leaky breasts or a cesarean incision. All of these needs can be met with a postnatal massage.
